Lochgoilhead National Activity Centre
Set amidst magnificent West Highland scenery just over an hour from Glasgow, the Lochgoilhead Centre offers fully-catered and fully-programmed water and land activities as part of a complete adventure package.
The Centre welcomes Scouts, Guides, youth organisations, clubs, special needs groups and students and staff from schools, colleges, and universities.
The Centre also caters for individuals and organisations interested in gaining National Governing Body training and awards.
Accommodation and facilites:
Lochgoilhead offers a mix of indoor accommodation for up to 150 people through its dormitories and lodges, including specially-adapted accommodation for those with special needs.
There are four dormitory units, two of which have 22 beds that are split into two rooms of five bunks and a leader room with one bunk bed. Two further units each have a maximum occupancy of 24 - two rooms with four bunk beds, one room with two bunk beds and a leader room with two bunk beds. Showers are provided in separate external male and female facilities. Leader rooms each have a private toilet and shower facility.
The lodges are our premier accommodation and are very popular with existing customers. Three lodges each have a maximum occupancy of 16. The accommodation is provided in three rooms with two single beds, two rooms with two bunk beds and a leader room with two single beds. Each lodge is unisex and there is a wash hand basin in each room. The leader room has its own toilet and shower. One other lodge has a maximum capacity of 12, in six rooms. Each room has two single beds and private toilet and shower.
The centre also has a modified sixteen bed lodge provides good accommodation for special needs groups and their leaders. One room has an internal WC and shower facility with full wheelchair access.
An electric hoist is available in the lodge and various items of manual handling equipment are on hand for boat and other transfers. Users and potential users are best to confirm with us that we have any specialist equipment they may require for their group needs.
Tarmac walkways lead between the lodge, dining and activity facilities. A path has been constructed to give wheelchair access to the abseil area and hillside three hundred feet above the centre.
Lochgoilhead is fully-catered, with food available in a central dining hall. There are also vending machines and a shop selling a range of items.
The Centre also has a number of rooms which can be used for training and meetings, with equipment such as a projector, screen, and television (with DVD player) available. The main training room is also fitted with a smartboard.
Activities:
With a wide range of fully-programmed activities both on water and land, which can be tailored to meet the needs of groups, Lochgoilhead is ideal for two night multi-choice activity weekends or summer activity weeks.
Virtually all activities are carried out within walking distance of the centre, so more time is spent participating, not travelling. All activities are supervised and taught to the highest standards by qualified and enthusiastic staff. The centre is also equipped to provide inclusive adventurous activities for those with special needs.
