Cub Chatter April 2011

Want to support your Pack leadership team?

Bring your Sixers and Leaders to a skills and leadership training weekend camp at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre from the 2nd - 4th September 2011.

This camp is in direct response to the questionnaire sent out in the autumn where Leaders asked for more opportunities to develop their own skills for running Pack meetings including activities, effective use of Young leaders, managing behaviour and Sixers Forums.

An action packed weekend is planned for both Sixers and Leaders - with the added bonus that all meals and washing up will be done for you!  All you have to do is enjoy yourselves.

Places are limited so please reserve yours as soon as possible before the closing date of 31st May.  Bookings will be taken using the event booking form. First come first served, so please do not delay.

Commissioner's Challenge                          ComissionersChallangeSymbol.jpg

Visit Scotland has an 'Eye-Spy Trail' to challenge you to solve 20 clues around the city.

Your challenge is to make a similar trail for your home town and send it to SHQ at cubs@scouts-scotland.org.uk and we will publish it for others to use if and when they find themselves visiting your home town.

Cub Scout Recognition

Cubs from 78th Lanarkshire (3rd Blantyre) have recently completed the John Muir Discovery Award having worked hard for 6 months.

Seventeen Cubs and 3 leaders completed 4 challenges comprising Discover, Explore, Conserve and Share, which of course fits very well with our own awards meaning the Cubs also gained some of their Cub Scout challenges and got very muddy at the same time!

Simon McGrory from the Cub Scout Support Team recently presented Chief Scout Silver Awards to Cub Scouts from 185th Glasgow Cub Scout Pack in Rutherglen.

This is the first time for a few years that the Pack has had youngsters finishing the challenges.

Congratulations to the youngsters on their achievement and thanks to the leaders and parents for their encouragement and support.

Coming Up - Mission Impossible & Badge Day Challenge

Cubs will be descending on Templars Park in Aberdeen on 23rd April to investigate the 'Quest of the Knights Templar' as this year's theme for Mission Impossible, whilst a further 285 Cubs from Perth and Kinross District have signed up for a badge day on 30th April.
