Cub Chatter April 2012

Cub Chatter April

32nd Greenock & District having a Jubilee Party.

Welcome to the April issue of Cub Chatter.  In this edition there is a look at: resources for outdoor based programmes, weekends away with your Cub Packs and a few other bits and pieces.

Outdoor Programme

Hopefully the weather will allow much more outdoor programme planning in the next few months.

It might be useful to have a look these resources before you head out. There are lots of places accessible to help you with the Outdoor challenge.

If you plan on doing the Healthy Eating Badge, resources to help you with this can be found here.

Diamond Jubilee

The Jubilee Woodlands are still looking for areas to plant trees to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Resources are also available here – with superb photos and ideas to make outdoor challenges more exciting and help you tie in with this Jubilee Project.

Scottish Cub Challenge

Visit Scotland has ideas for places to visit, many of which are free.

Q – The island of Handa once elected and ran its own Parliament but is now inhabited by what?  Answers to cubs@scouts-scotland.org.uk

Many of the Historic Scotland sites are free of charge - providing that you're under 12! This provides another fantastic opportunity for you to get out and about with your Cubs this summer for little or no cost.

Many thanks to those who have sent in photos for the Commissioners Challenge – April 30th is the closing date and photos will be revealed on next month’s Cub Chatter.

Looking for a last minute weekend away with the Cubs?

Check out availability at Lochgoilhead, the staff can provide resources for doing Mapreader, navigator and water sports. Speak to the Lochgoilhead team about what you need for the weekend.

There are still a few spaces left for shorter summer camps so book now to ensure that you dont miss out on this fantastic opportunity!

Have you been  to Lochgoilhead recently? Could you send us some photos so we can let other Packs see how much fun the youngsters and leaders have at the Centre?

Meggernie and Fordell Firs also have badge opportunities so get in contact with them now to see what they can offer for your pack!

And finally…….

Please send any good news stories or photographs, so that we can include it in future editions of Cub Chatter.  I would love to hear about what’s going on around Scotland.

Till next month…
